Existential Meaning-Making Coping in Iran: A Qualitative Study among Patients with Cancer

This article is written on the basis of a study meaning-making coping in Iran. The part an international project 10 countries with different religious and cultural backgrounds. aims to discuss secular existential methods employed by Iranian cancer patients. Interviews were conducted 27 participants various kinds cancer. Nine strategies emerged from analyses qualitative interviews. These are as follows: Ignoring illness, Distraction, Altruism, Encounter others, Nature, Discourse self, Visualization, Positive solitude, thinking transformational orientation. It seems that, using these strategies, our sample patients/survivors have been denying/ignoring their and/or empowering themselves. We results, considering potential influence elements, including Islam, Persian mysticism, literature, selection strategies. contributes understanding via elucidating how seriously ill individuals Iran try manage challenges caused health crisis.
